Poppins Restaurant
If you're ever around Station Road in New Milton and craving something hearty, comforting, and undeniably British, Poppins Restaurant is the place that keeps locals coming back and visitors pleasantly surprised. Nestled at 106 Station Rd, BH25 6LQ, this spot delivers more than just meals-it delivers familiarity, warmth, and a casual dining experience that hits the spot no matter the time of day.
The first thing that strikes you about Poppins is the welcoming vibe. The layout is spacious enough to accommodate wheelchair users comfortably, with a fully accessible entrance, seating, toilet, and even a car park. Whether you’re rolling in with a pram, using a mobility aid, or just popping in solo for a quick bite, accessibility has clearly been thought through.
Now let’s talk food, because that’s where Poppins really shines. Breakfast is a big deal here, and it's not hard to see why. The Full English Breakfast is practically a local legend-crispy bacon, runny eggs, golden French fries, grilled tomatoes, beans, and toast. You’ll also find comforting classics like Eggs Benedict or a more nostalgic treat like Fish Fingers and Chips, perfect with a splash of vinegar and a cup of black tea.
And speaking of tea, this place has an impressive tea selection. Whether you're into classic English Breakfast, Earl Grey, or looking for a herbal twist, the tea offerings here pair wonderfully with their lemon meringue pie or Choc Nut Flake. For the coffee crowd, the Caffe Mocha is rich, chocolatey, and topped with just the right amount of frothy cream. It's no surprise the coffee has earned a reputation-smooth, strong, and made to perfection.
Poppins doesn’t just cater to breakfast lovers, though. Lunch and dinner bring their own hits, like a bubbling tray of Lasagne, or the crowd-pleasing Butter Chicken served with warm naan. The Golden Battered Cod Fillet is another favorite-flaky, fresh, and encased in a perfectly crisp golden coat. For lighter options, their Paninis and Chicken Nuggets are ideal for quick lunches or fuss-free kids’ meals.
You can even treat yourself to something a little different with a Lassi-a sweet and creamy yogurt drink that adds an unexpected touch of international flavor to the menu. And if dessert is non-negotiable (as it should be), the Choclog Pancake is indulgence done right-soft, rich, and layered with gooey chocolate.
Service here is relaxed but attentive. Staff know the regulars by name, and even if you're a first-time visitor, they’ll greet you like you’ve been part of the neighborhood for years. That friendly, low-key atmosphere makes it great for solo diners, especially those who just want to enjoy a cup of something warm and a plate of comfort food without any fuss.
In terms of convenience, Poppins covers all the bases. Fancy a quick bite? There’s takeaway and no-contact delivery available. Want to sit outside and enjoy the breeze with your cappuccino? The outdoor seating is perfect for that. Prefer to stay in and get your meal delivered hot to your door? They've got you covered there, too.
If you’re the type who enjoys smaller portions with variety, their small plates menu allows you to mix and match-ideal if you're not in the mood for one big meal. The restaurant manages to strike a fine balance between traditional British fare and flexible modern dining.
Whether you’re after a satisfying breakfast, a midday refuel, or a cozy dinner, Poppins Restaurant delivers with ease. It’s the kind of place that keeps things simple but never dull, offering consistently good food, friendly service, and that home-away-from-home vibe that so many chain spots just can’t replicate.

Superb big breakfast for £7.99. wife and kids all enjoyed their meals. Good coffee and very friendly and attentive staff. Seats about 60 and have 7 staff in (on a Saturday) nearly full when we visited but food still all came in good time.
Frequent visitors here for good, straight forward food, diner style relaxed atmosphere with a large, varied menu. Staff are always lovely and attentive and the food is well cooked and comes out quickly Great place to eat with children, very accommodating with allergies although vegan options are very limited
Friendly and efficient. We go here 4 or 5 times a year. It is what you would expect from a fast food cafe and more. A large menu, specials and many drinks are on offer.
Probably the best choice for food in New Milton High Street (although there is a slight lack in competition). Large menu, good service and although food doesn’t look too special, it tastes very nice. Good spot to stop for lunch.
Simple but good and nice surroundings. Mixed grill of sorts and gourmet burger. Chips. No problems. Burger could do with more seasoning and brioche bun is IMO too sweet with any burger. Onion rings plural means you get 2 ! :-) juice seemed a mix of fresh and carton. Had notes of flat fanta and carboxylic acid
